Jens Homann
Group leader in the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Public Enterprises of the City of Berlin in Germany

Jens is a group leader in the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Public Enterprises (link: https://www.berlin.de/sen/wirtschaft/en/) of the City of Berlin in Germany. He mainly deals with Berlin's innovation policy in the fields of energy technology and environmental economy. Being part of the Energy Unit of the Senate Department, Jens supports business development and economic growth in the field of energy transition. He works in close cooperation with the Berlin agency for innovation and business promotion, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology (link: https://www.berlin-partner.de/en/sectors-clusters/energy-technologies/).

A strong focus of his work lies upon creating favourable conditions for new businesses and startups. With around 500 new tech startups per year, Berlin is Germany's capital city also for startups. Berlin has a fast-growing startup scene and a successful infrastructure for financing and funding. Numerous incubators, accelerators and coworking spaces provide optimal conditions for entrepreneurs from around the world.

Jens studied law in Marburg, Norwich (UK) and Hamburg and obtained his PhD in Consumer Law in Halle. Since 2004 Jens worked for the City of Berlin in different fields of competence and holds his current position since 2015.
